Defense Minister Calls for Collective Work by African Countries to Confront Terrorism and Transnational Crimes

Awad Mohamed Ahmed Ibn Auf has stressed that terrorism, human trafficking, border conflicts, transnational crimes and proliferation of small and light weapons are challenges that necessitate collective work by the countries of the African continent.
The Minister explained in his address to the meetings of the East Africa Standby Forces (EASF) at the level of the chiefs of staff here yesterday that the area witnesses many transformations and challenges that should be confronted through boosting the collective work and unification of ranks besides working as one team.
He pointed out that EASF has declared its readiness for keeping and protecting peace, becoming a model in the African continent, so that the African people would enjoy peace and security and decent life
The Minister of Defense affirmed that EASF had implemented recently a number of operations that were culminated with declaration of full operational preparedness, as an African force that is ready for any missions in the area.
The meetings were attended by military leaders representing each of Sudan, Somalia, Ethiopia, Uganda, Kenya, Burundi, Rwanda, Seychelles, the Comoros and Djibouti.
