Arab Calls for Lifting Name of Sudan from List of Terrorism
February/27 | am:10:08 / No Comments 132 viewsThe Speaker of the Arab Parliament, Dr. Meshaal bin Fahmy Al-Salami, has directed a written messages to the President of the United States of America, and the Chairpersons of the House of Representatives and the Senate, demanding the lifting of the name of Sudan from the American list of states sponsoring terrorism.
The Speaker of the Arab Parliament has noted in the written messages that the request came in accordance with the conclusion of the hearing held by the Arab Parliament on the 10 th of February 2019 and the discussion of the Sudan name on the list of States sponsoring terrorism at the headquarters of the Arab League in Cairo.
The participants in the hearing, and after reviewing the legal memorandum on putting the Sudan’s name on the list of states sponsoring terrorism, have signed a statement of solidarity confirming the right of Sudan to remove its name from the list of state sponsoring terrorism and demanded the United States to remove Sudan from the US State Department list of sponsors of terrorism in accordance with the arguments and legal grounds that prove its right to remove its name from this list.
The Speaker of the Arab Parliament noted that the legal memorandum issued by the Arab Parliament on discussion of the status of Sudan on the list of states sponsoring terrorism, and after an in-depth study and extensive discussions with Sudan and identifying the views of the regional and international unions, organizations and bodies that have participated in the hearing, has confirmed the Sudan’s implementation of all its commitments in the plan of the five tracks agreed upon with the United States of America, and the realization of Sudan requirements of the second round of the US-Sudanese dialogue.
In his message, the Speaker of the Arab Parliament has emphasized the efforts and initiatives exerted by the Republic of Sudan at all the Arab, regional and international levels in the fields of combating terrorism and sponsoring peace.
