Cabinet briefed on IGAD efforts to make peace in S. Sudan

The Council of Minisreres briefed, on IGAD’s efforts to maintain peace in South Sudan State.
This came during briefing presented by the Prime Minister, D. Abdalla Hamdouk to the ministers on his capacity as the the Chairman of the organization which is considered the Chief Mediator in peace process in South Sudan.
The Minister of Culture and Information, the Government Spokesman, Faisal Mohammed Salih outlined in press statements that the talks held in Addis Ababa, on the sidelines of the African Summit discussed the formation of the National Unity in South Sudan State.
He described the meeting that included Prime Minister Dr. Hamdouk, the Ugandan President, Yeweri Museveni, South Sudan President, General, Salva Kiir Mayardit and the opposition leader in South Sudan, Dr. Riek Mashar, as a major breakthrough.
Faisal pointed out that the mediators presented a proposal on the number of the states, which is considered the main point of difference between the two parties, adding that the opposition accepted the proposal while, President Salva Kiir requested more time for consultation.
