Foreign Minister Receives US Congress Delegation
March/18 | am:9:47 / No Comments 141 viewsThe Foreign Minister Dr. Al-Dirdiri Mohamed Ahmed, received in his office the US Congressman Gus Michael Bilirakis, who is visiting Sudan today with a number of his aides, in the presence of the Charge d’Affaires of the US Embassy in Khartoum, Ambassador Stephen Koutsis.
The Foreign Minister has welcomed the visit of the delegation to Sudan and the concern of the US Congressman with the situation in the country and his keenness to take the facts by himself, hoping that the rest of the Congress members would follow suit.
At the request of the Congressman, the Foreign Minister presented an explanation of the reality of coexistence and religious tolerance in Sudan, which has always been a feature of Sudanese society that is hosting immigrants from other countries with their various religions.
He meeting also dealt with the process of dialogue between Sudan and the United States and the issues it tackles, reiterating Sudan government’s commitment to the rights and freedoms guaranteed by the Constitution and laws.
He reviewing Sudan’s efforts to encourage the parties to the Central African Peace Agreement to form a government of national unity and to be fully committed to the agreement.
The Congressman has appreciated the security situation in Sudan, indicating that he will encourage other congressmen to visit Sudan.
