Japan Supports Demining Programme in Sudan by 906 Thousand US Dollars

The Japanese Government has announced extending a contribution to the value of 906 thousand US dollars towards demining programme and

humanitarian purposes in coordiantion with the National Center for Combating mines with the aim of reducing population suffering and preseving lives in the mines-affected regions and devastations of war.
Brigadier Staff Amir Abdulsadiq, the Manager of the National Center for combating mines said yesteray in a press conference this support will enable the center and the international organization to survey and remove mines and the hazards of explosives in the states of Kassala, and the Red Sea with the possibilty of expanding operations in Blue Nile and South Kordofan states.
He noted that some five hundred tousand square meters will cleared for using them in the social and economic development activities stressing that this generous support will enhance the awareness projects in mines combating which were designed for assisting 50,000 persons living in the mine-affected regions as well as survivers of mines and explosives incidents and other disabled persons including women and children.
