Negotiations between Government and SPLM-North Sector Postponed
October/17 | am:9:30 / No Comments 167 viewsThe leadership of the mediation committee of the Sudanese peace talks issued a statement announcing postponement of the direct negotiation sitting between the government delegation and the SPLM – North Sector delegation led by Abdul-Aziz al-Hilu for 24 hours.
The direct negotiation was scheduled to start on Wednesday October 16 according to the schedules agreed upon by the parties.
The statement stated that delay was due to a protest by the SPLM-North, led by Abdul-Aziz al-Hilu, which accused the Sudanese government of violating the ceasefire in recent events in the Khor Al-Waral area in South Kordofan.
The statement said that the mediation decided to postpone the negotiation for further consultations between the parties to address the issue.
The mediation statement called on both parties to stick to calmness and restraint and to allow for an atmosphere of peace and reconciliation.
