South Darfur State Hosts around 50,000 South Sudanese Refugees

The acting Wali (governor) of South Darfur State, Taha Abdalla, explained that the recent visit of the Chairperson of the Human Rights Commission to South Darfur State was aimed to inspect the situation of the South Sudanese refugees in the state.

He said that around 50,000 South Sudanese refugees are existing at Al-Radom area and Al-Salam, Belail and Buram localities, indicating that these refugees are sharing food, shelter, health and education services with the citizens at these areas and enjoying the same rights and duties.

Abdalla indicated that the officials in the state have called on the Chairperson of the Human Rights Commission to provide more aid to the areas for the South Sudanese refugees through the organizations or the Commission for Humanitarian Aid.

Meanwhile, the Chairperson of the Human Rights Commission, Jasmin Luka, said that she is visiting the state to investigate in incidents that happened in South Sudan since the year 2013 and up to now, adding that the main reason for her visit is to talk with the South Sudanese refugees living in South Darfur State.
