Sudan Foreign Minister Met with NEPAD’s Secretary-General of the National Secretariat

Sudan Foreign Minister, Al-Deriri Mohamed Ahmed met with the Secretary-General of the National Secretariat of the New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD), Abdel Moneim al-Sunni.
During the meeting al-Sunni briefed the Minister on the tasks of NEPAD as an operational arm of the African Union.
He pointed out that NEPAD is concerned with projects that reduce poverty and achieve sustainable development such as agricultural projects, infrastructure projects and projects that preserve natural resources and stop environmental degradation.
NEPAD is also concerned with health, education and technology development.
He explained that regional projects are a priority for NEPAD and these projects are proposed by African presidents such as the railway project linking East Africa to the west and the river line between Cairo and Lake Victoria across the Nile.
Al-Suni explained that the Sudan is proposed the project of the port of Sawakin, which aims to serve a number of African countries closed.
