Sudan Participates in Human Trafficking Conference
September/18 | am:8:35 / No Comments 164 viewsSudan will participate at the First Regional Conference of the General and Attorneys and of Africa and Europe on international judicial cooperation for pursuing human trafficking and smuggling of immigrants, scheduled to begin Tuesday in Sharm Al-Sheikh, Egypt, with a delegation headed by the Attorney General, Omer Mohamed Ahmed.
an official at the Public Prosecution said that the conference is organized by the UN Office for Combating Drugs and Crime, indicating that the conference will discuss the issues of human trafficking and smuggling of immigrants and the plans for combating these phenomena as well as the European – African cooperation in this regard.
He explained that the address of the Attorney General at the opening sitting of the conference will tackle a number of issues and axes which include the constitutional amendment conducive to establishment of the Public Prosecution as a separate judicial body, issuance of the Public Prosecution Act for the year 2017 that determined its jurisdiction and role in combating human trafficking, corruption and inter-border crimes and issuance of the Act for Combating Human Trafficking for the year 2014.
He said that the address of the Attorney General at the conference will refer to the increasing human trafficking phenomenon, Sudan geographical location that has rendered it a crossing for immigrations from a number of neighboring countries and the efforts of the state and the Public Prosecution in this respect, adding that the address will further point to formation of the legal committee for combating human trafficking and its jurisdiction.
