UNAMID plane carrying Indonesian battalion crashed
December/16 | am:10:51 / No Comments 114 viewsThe Indonesian battalion on board UNAMID plane has escaped death, Saturday, following the crash of the plane carrying 239 soldiers on their way home via Ethiopia.
Director of West Darfur State Police, General, Omer Mohammad Ahmed Al-Tayeb that the engine of the plane was disrupted due to technical failure as it was moving in the runway to fly, at Sobira InternationalAirport in Al-Genina.
He outlined that the Civil Defense Unit rushed to the runway and managed to control the situation, adding that the personnel and the crew members were evacuated safely.
The incident coincided with the flying of the presidential plane carrying Dr. Osman Mohammed Yousuf Kubar, Vice President of the Republic, who was on a visit to West Darfur to attend the conclusion of the peace games organized for displaced people.
