UNHCR Facilitated Repatriation of Sudanese Refugees from Chad
February/26 | pm:3:00 / No Comments 113 viewsThe United Nations’ refugee agency (UNHCR) organized a voluntary repatriation convoy for 309 Sudanese refugees who were living in the camps of Al-tina and Um Jaras in Chad.
Voluntary repatriation comes after the signing of the Tripartite agreement in May 2017 between UNHCR and the Governments of the Sudan and Chad.
According to Chadian sites, the head of the UNHCR sub-delegation in the Iriba refugee camp, Nicholas Kapoor, said that the launch of voluntary repatriation convoys to Sudanese refugees living in the camp began in April 2017.
He pointed out that a national committee for the reception and reintegration of refugees has been established, in partnership with non- Governmental organizations.
